"The Wall"

For a while now I wanted to do more with my photography and last week I started to do so. I used my voice and informed a lot of people about what’s going on in this world. This is a new week so here is new knowledge for all of you.  This is a piece I did to shed light on “The Wall”. Please read below to find out more!

Here are a few facts about “the wall”. 

First, Trump asked Congress for $1.6 billion to replace 14 miles of wall in San Diego and build 60 miles in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley, the busiest corridor for illegal crossings. This is $1.6 billion that could fix below average communities in this nation but no… this money will go to a “wall”.

The last two of eight prototypes for President Trump’s proposed border wall took shape Thursday Oct. 19th at a construction site in San Diego. The prototypes form a tightly packed row of imposing concrete and metal panels, including one with sharp metal edges on top. 

Second, the models, which cost the government up to $500,000 each, were spaced 30 feet apart. Slopes, thickness and curves vary. Bidding guidelines call for the prototypes to stand between 18 and 30 feet high and be able to withstand at least an hour of punishment from a sledgehammer, pickaxe, torch, chisel or battery-operated tools. Features also should prevent the use of climbing aids such as grappling hooks, and the segments must be “aesthetically pleasing” when viewed from the U.S. side. 

So, not only will there be “a wall” but Mexico will have a dangerous wall on their side while America have an appealing view on theirs? This is inhumane on so many different levels. 

Third, there are currently 654 miles of single-layer fence on the 1,954-mile border, plus 51 miles of double- and triple-layer fence. Listen, America’s immigrant population is at an all time high. America is home to at least 43.7 million immigrants. 

This is a country built by immigrants. This is a country built for immigrants. But, now this country wants to deport immigrants. Now this country wants to prevent immigrants from coming. Wow America! You really fucked up now! Because right now, the way this country is looking, Mexican’s shouldn’t be the one’s that are being prevented from entering this country or kicked out. So America, you truly need to check yourself. #WakeUpAmerica
